"Flowers make the most wonderful and worthy of subjects to paint and draw."
Flowers are themselves like works of art possessing line, form, color,
texture, pattern and design. Each plant has it's own unique personality to convey.
Some are striking, bold, and exotic, while other are more demure,
and pale in color. Wildflowers can look so delicte, yet bloom, flower,
and grow under the most severe environmental conditions.

Flowering plants form relationships with other living organisms, many symbiotic.
Flowering plants provide food, cosmetics and medicine. They are rich in mystique,
symbolism, legend and lore - the subject of poetry and token of romance.

The diversity waiting to be explored is a rewarding adventure which I hope to share.
It is my hope that through my plant portraits, others too may know,
(to quote Baudelaire), "The Language of flowers and silent things."

- Linda Lorraine Wolfe

Contemporary Botanical Illustration is the perfect art form for
Linda Lorraine Wolfe to express her love of nature; her affinity for flowers.

To create the finely detailed watercolor paintings, Linda relies on training
she received from the Denver Botanic Gardens' School of Botanical Illustration,
of which she is a graduate.

Linda also relies on experience gained from an art career that spans 25 years.
With a Fine Art Degree in studio painting from Southern Colorado State College (University),
a BA in Radio-Television Production from the University of Arizona, and a diploma
in Advertising Design from Colorado Institute of Art, Linda's artistic skills have
resulted in employment by the US government, small businesses and large corporations.

She has taught continuing education classes at the community college level
in beginning and intermediate drawing.

Linda's original paintings have been exhibited and sold in galleries and national juried shows.

Her illustrations have appeared in Mountain, Plain and Garden magazine, and several watercolor
paintings were published in the 1996 book, "Xeriscape Plant Guide", (Fulcrum Publishing).

Currently, under the name of Wolfe Design, Linda is publishing Giclée Prints and
Botanical Art Cards featuring selections from her original watercolor paintings.

Linda holds membership in The American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA)
The Pend Oreille Arts Council (POAC) and The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI).

The artist's favorite pastime is hiking nearby mountains
in search of wildflowers and other wonders of nature.
